New Haircut for my Matt

My son Matthew....
now this is what i call a haircut....i actually really like it. Matt is a trendsetter for hairstyles at his school (i am sure of it!). We have made it though the 1st week of High School. Um....I just can't believe my son is in HS...can't quit get over that. It is so much fun watching Matthew bloom, unfold, listen to all his dreams and most of all....be his mother. Unconditional LOVE. I love being a mom....i love you Matt.

Great movie...

I loved the movie (Julie&Julia). I think Julia was a kick in the pants! I have watched Julia Child on PBS and other TV spots- what a cool woman! Hope you get out to see the movie. We had a wonderful time! We enjoyed the movie and had a blast looking at all the cool shops at the Cherry Creek Mall- wow! I have been a good girl this year and Santa must prepare...it's gonna be a long list! AL- thanks for the treat!! :)

Time...

I had SOO much fun making this "fairy jar" (i think that's what they are called). Used an old jelly jar and cut out a fairy, glued lots of glitter and other fun jewels on her, filled the jar with rose petals, stars, more glitter, splashed a little paint behind her and ta-da....It's a fairy in a jar for my niece!! Hope she likes it...

Well- this is another weekend creation... not sure i like her. Her face is too long but it's just what happened. The cool thing is....is that i didn't "look" at anything when i created her. I just went with it and this is what came of a brave moment.

Matthew has started school- he is a FRESHMAN in HIGH SCHOOL!! OMGoodness....where o where has the time gone??? Whew- can't believe my "baby boy" is in high school. I am excited, thrilled and a little nervous...what fun- to be a teenager and have so little responsibilities. If we only knew then what we know now. Would you do it any differently if you could do it all over again? I sure as heck would...

Calm Weekend...

Just enjoying the weekend...it's still outside and the sun is shining. I have had a pitcher of Passion Tazo tea and enjoyed a cold glass outside with my Lucy. Had a fun morning and painted a little last night. I have soo missed painting and creating- been busy with life and work. We must MAKE time for our fun- for our passion. Doesn't matter if it's big or small or what it is. We all know what fires us up...what makes our engines run. I know what does it for me- what does it for you?? Here's a couple pages...not sure if i like em...but it's what was created and it released lots of stress. The lady isn't finished- need to work on the bird and add lots of glitter (not done till i do this). Have fun today! :)

Thankful...

I am loving my new journal by the way!! Here's my first attempt at a bird...I heard them singing this am and it was just lovely...i wish i could listen to them all day.

What a weekend!!! I learned alot this weekend- just how much I take for granted each day. Hopped into my car on Saturday morning and click. click. click.........OMG....the car would start! (i was headed to the gym...my one day a week gym trip- an no can do!). My lovely neighbor gave me a lift and I installed (is that the right word) a new battery! I am also thankful that it was a dead battery and not a dead alternator or something else real nice and pricey. Last weekend I had new brakes put on. I do take for granted that my car will start every time, I take for granted my heart beats, I take for granted my breath. I am THANKFUL- more aware and THANKFUL. Being thankful has brought me peace today....here's a little of what i just painted...inspired by an artist (Zorana) in artful blogging (great magazine).

Art Day July 5th 2009

Art Day at my house. Mom came to visit me and we thought it would be great to create and share some time together. My Aunt Linda joined us and shared her newest fabric beads and creations.
Matthew (my son) is very much into the urban art scene and has a love for art of all kinds. He worked on creating his own ink from ink pens and also made his own stencils. He then used spray paint to get just the look and feel he was looking for- thanks for joining us son!

Today was so much fun! Mom will be traveling home tomorrow- sure the family back home will welcome mom back home with open arms! She is an awesome cook and bet they can't wait to have her back!! We will miss her here- God knows I will. Thanks Aunt Linda for coming to share all your ideas, yummy snacks and most of all time and love! Was cool to have my son Matt join in too- we made lots of fun memories today! May we create and make many many more!

It's a Monday- a great vacation day Monday

Good am- I am up early and scheduled a vacation- play day for myself today. Thought i would share the journal pages i worked on last night. Wanted to also share these.... I love my new dress forms....they are metal (the only ones i could find)- i really think they are cool. Now i have a place to put my necklaces when i take em off downstairs (ha!). i want to use these when my mom and i have a booth at a show. Our goal is do have a booth this year at a craft show or make our own open house deal- come on mom- let's do it!
Wanted to share this too.......My son Matthew (aka Dez One)....performed for the first time at Cervantes here in Denver- WOW! Matthew loves music and is fond of the hip-hop scene. He creates his own beats and writes his own lyrics. I am so proud of you son!!!!
I have started a journal page...not done but it's a start and i didn't lose my ticket!
Lucy needs a haircut...she'll have to wait til payday AND stand in line. Mom and Matt need could use a trim too (my trim is cheaper that hers). She's also ready for a walk...one more minute Lucy!

Here's a random journal page from last night....cut a cute pic from a Yoga mag and used it for inspiration. I would love to be bathed in "calm" during all situations. You know those folks that can remain calm in a crisis or in long lines or a the airport. I'm gonna be calm....remain calm..... :)

Sunday Fun...

Gotta have some tea on a Sunday (everyday!). My favorite....Tazo...Passion- just love it. I like mixing it with lemonade too....Passion Tea Lemonade on crushed ice.....oh- it is YUM!
Ok- so here my mess- but I'm having so much fun. Had to take break to allow my next page in my journal to dry. I am loving my Moleskin- cool pages. Still afraid to mess it up but I am working through the fear and just going for it!!!
Trying the "drippy" method....i kind of like it...not sure what to do next- i'll post what i come up with when i'm done.
Here's what i did last night- it's fun making a "mess"....it's just for me- no rules- no one to judge- it's great. Freedom.....a free spirit....a free soul. :)

So many wonderful artists out there....I really enjoyed it...i'm still working my way through a few more blogs. I find myself reading and reading and searching through their lives....opps- i forgot the laundry, my lucy needs the potty (scratching on the door). I can really lose myself looking and admiring all the work out there. THanks again....can't wait to hold the drawing..how cool is that!

I love tea and enjoyed painting the stacked cups. Painting this was a real quick stress reliever. Had fun and got carried away with making the white specks....had white paint everywhere-ooops!
This was interesting to paint...a self-portrait. This is what i would look like- thin. This is what i would wear too. Ohh la la....I just love off the shoulder tops. Couldn't wear anything like- my boulder holder works overtime. I wish..i wish..
Just had to share these too! Mom sent me a love package in the mail and i adore them. She is too sweet- my friend did a huge favor for me and mom made her a few hot pads (mom said i could keep the rest)....not sure if any of these beauties are leaving my home (just kidding mom!)
have a great night....i want to write more tonight but my eyeballs are on fire- 9 hours in front of a computer at work and then i run home to check out blogs....um....my poor ojos!!!

Project Sunday...

Had fun today...I created this painting for my dad for Father's Day. It's a real cool canvas size and it's wide- so no need for frame. I am happy with it and hope my dad likes it too.

Had to share these....mom made these lovely bookmarks....they are super cool and will hold your place in that special read.
Mom used clay, baked them and painted her favorite words on them. She used lots of different threads and ribbons to add color and lots of texture.

Fabric bowl made my mom as well. Another one of her many cool designs. This one especially reminds me of spring and summer...all the colors and vines. I love the yummy beads she hand-stitched around the outside of the bowl.
Mom shared with me yesterday that she is working on more projects...can't wait to see what she has been up to!!!

My Lucy girl

Lucy is our pet and we have had her for going on 9 or ten years!! Matt (my son) and I just love love love her! Lucy makes me happy...she listens to me and knows everything about me. She looks at me when i am telling her about my day- with that shiny little nose and lovely, blinky eyes. She has heard it all...my Lucy always greets me with so much love. This is a painting of my Lucy. I had another one of the entire painting- clicked a button and don't know where the heck it went. gone- gone forever. Anyway...I love my Lucy. If anyone of you reading this has a pet (especially a dog- you know what I am talking about). The love for your pet- the love I have for my Lucy girl. Can't really even explain it...yep- i'm a dog lover! :)

The gift of today...sunshine

The gift of another day is here. Something I sometimes take for granted...oh...i'll do that tomorrow...i'll call that friend and loved one tomorrow.... I say do it today. What will you do with your gift of today? Tomorrow is promised to no one. (Sun by jodi- I burned my sketch into wood and then painted, added glitter (lots of star glitter too and bees wax- was way fun). Today...do something you love....call someone you love! :) have a beautiful day to all.

Back from Miami...

Oh...how i loved our trip to Miami. We(my son and I) traveled (I love plane rides too) to see my sister and her sweet family. My mom and dad also went. Was such a fun family trip. We missed the new babies birth by a couple days but that's ok. He is just precious and was welcomed by his big sister. Oh..so so so cute! Can't wait to visit them again...



My son Matthew...He loves Miami too! We had so much fun. Matthew gave jet skiing a shot- had lots of fun. He especially enjoying the beaches and enjoying Lincoln Road and all it has to offer. Man- my son can shop!!
I was very camera happy and got shots of so many wonderful items, people- you name it. I could help but take a shot of these lovely little flowers and the awesome lizards....the little things....i LOVE em!

Spread for Ness's baby shower

Yummy frosting.....Yummy cupcakes in the making. Thank you my little sweet niece Faith!! Such a wonderful helper!!
Check these out....yummy cupcakes. Some had sugar, some had coconut (you are such a wonderful baker mom!)
And let's not forget the yummy chocolate covered strawberries- goodness...what a lovely spread we had. Mom also made homemade chicken bow tie soup. It was so good- it was a cool day and with the fire burning slowly- it totally hit the spot. Oh...mom also made "hot" fresh from the oven wheat rolls topped with butter.

I loved this get together! We all came together for my sis's baby shower. Although she was not present (she lives in Miami with her wonderful husband and sweet baby girl) at her shower (in Colorado), we did call her and she thanked everyone and spoke with all of us via speaker phone. She teared up on us...she is such a gentle soul. We will travel to be with her very soon....can't wait to help welcome out newest member to our family. Thank you all for coming and making it such a special treat!

Weekend with mom...

Shared a wonderful weekend with my mom this past weekend....we had so much fun! Mom and I spent Friday together in Alamosa...it began with a hot stone massage at Mystic Orient. Oh.....boy.....i can still feel the warmth and comfort from the hot stones and healing hands. More pics and weekend events to follow. We enjoyed family time together and gathered for my sis's baby shower.
